LOCO BLOCO
Loco Bloco’s mission is to promote San Francisco youth’s healthy transition into adulthood by engaging them in the creation and performance of music, dance, and theater traditions reflecting the cultural diversity of the Americas. Loco Bloco encourages its youth to use multicultural arts forms as a tool for their own empowerment and as a catalyst to help them overcome discrimination and bring about change in their communities. I've created a poster design with an original digital illustration of a script font, incorporating the theme of a Brazilian bracelet "lembranca do senhor do bonfim da bahia". The colorful bracelets give the design a bright, inviting appearance that fits the concept of Loco Bloco and it's origination. I've also done a lot of print collateral for Loco Bloco's annual Gala event—Blocura. The design project consist of creating flyers, posters, award certificates, event brochures, and remittance forms. I've also been invited by the organization to be part of the planning that goes into the theme for their participation in Carnival 2015. A beloved 3–day event featuring a Grand Parade and 2–day Festival, celebrating music and cultural elements from Latin American and Caribbean traditions in San Francisco's beautiful Mission District.
